This workshop outlines the barriers that those who are New to Canada may face in their participation in sport, and then provides examples of solutions and opportunities that exist, as well as promising practices of work being done across Canada to develop or improve programs.



Inclusive Physical Literacy

Inclusive Physical Literacy will help participants to understand the importance of physical literacy development for participants of all abilities. This workshop will take participants through what universally accessible programs are and how to plan and create them. It will also help participants to develop their adaptations to fundamental movement skills to allow for different disability types to participate and have a quality first involvement experience.



Indigenous Communities: Active for Life

This culturally tailored resource and accompanying full-day workshop has been developed by Sport for Life and the Aboriginal Sport Circle, with input from many Indigenous sport and physical activity leaders across the country.

Introduction to Belonging in Sport and Physical Activity is a workshop designed to equip cross-sectoral stakeholders (e.g. sport, recreation, education, health and municipalities) with the competence to cultivate belonging in sport and physical activity.



Physical Activity and Physical Literacy in the Early Years

This workshop focuses on providing early years staff (front-line ECE staff, supervisors, managers) and parents with an increased understanding of physical literacy development in young children (0 to 5 years).



Physical Literacy Assessment

This workshop will provide participants with the ability to execute, score and interpret the physical literacy assessment for youth (PLAY) tools in a sport specific setting.



Physical Literacy for Older Adults

Provide leaders who work with older adults (55+) with an increased understanding of physical literacy development.



Physical Literacy Movement Preparation

Delivered in: English


Physical Literacy Movement Preparation is an enhanced training program performed as a warm up before practices and games to enhance performance and durability.

The program requires participants to complete two separate eLearning courses (45-75 min each) in advance of a 90min in-person workshop.



Quality Physical Literacy Experiences

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to integrate concepts from the previous three courses to create a physical literacy enriched environment for program participants. Upon completion of the workshop, and with proof of completing the pre-requisites, participants will be provided with an activation key to take the final summative assessment to complete the Physical Literacy Instructor Program.

CMEST Training for Community Coaches

This workshop is provided for Community Sport Coaches to prepare them to work with elementary school teachers in devleoping fundamental sport skills in their phsyical education classes.
